Creative Writing: My additional scene/chapter for the novel "Message in a Bottle"

After having the time of her life, Theresa is now back in Boston to get back to her work. Today, she’s going to pick up her son in the airport with David, her ex-husband. After a few minutes of waiting, the plane finally arrived. Theresa couldn’t wait to see her son and hug him the second they see each other.

Holding a sign in her hand that says “Kevin Osborne’s Mom” she patiently look at each person passing through the arrival lane. She then heard a familiar voice shouting, “Mom!” it’s Kevin, running towards her with a big smile on his face. They hugged each other tightly while her ex-husband watched the woman that she used to love kiss their son.

“Hi, how’s the trip?” asked Theresa to David. “Oh, it was great! We has so much fun together, you should have come with us.” he replied politely. Theresa gave him a sweet smile and said, “Well, you two must be very hungry? Why don’t we all go home and eat, I cooked both of your favorite, Beef ribs with sweet cherry glaze.” “Wow that sounds really delicious let’s go because I’m really starving.” Kevin said excitedly.

Like the happy family that they used to be, they drove together to Theresa’s house and enjoyed the meal that she prepared especially for them. After the meal, Kevin and David sat outside the porch. Theresa noticed that the two were talking seriously. She watched them from the window while cleaning the dishes. Later that day, David bid goodbye to the both of them but Kevin was not quite happy about his father leaving them. He ran towards his room and slammed the door.

Before David could leave, Theresa confronted him about what’s going on between him and their son. Instead of answering her question her ex-husband said,” How are you Theresa? I mean, how are you doing with your life right now?” “Why are you changing the topic? I’m asking you what the problem is.” replied Theresa with a tension in her voice. “Martha and I are having a divorce.” He said directly. Theresa was shocked with the news and felt bad for him. She stood there staring at him. She wanted to hug him and tell him she’s sorry but instead of doing so, she just kept silent and sat down slowly. Finally, she cleared her head and said, “What happened? I thought you were both happy with your marriage? That’s why Kevin was upset isn’t it? He liked Martha a lot.” He sat beside her and took a deep breath. “Actually, we broke up because of you.” He said with his eyes looking down. “Me? Why me? What did I have to do with your break up?” Theresa said angrily. She stood up and walked away but before she could leave, the David grabbed her arm and held it in his arms tightly. For a moment, Theresa remembered the man she fell in love with and the moment when they had their first baby. But when he left for Martha, her life fell apart and shattered. The memories rushed through her mind and tears suddenly ran down her rosy cheeks.

They had a heart to heart talk that evening. Kevin was actually mad because he promised him that he would try his best to win back Theresa’s heart and they could become a happy family again. Theresa told him that it was not a good decision to involve their son with this matter. He explained that the Kevin overheard his fight with Martha and asked him to give his relationship with Theresa a chance. “I’m sorry David but I have to tell you something.” Said Theresa said sadly. “What is it?” asked the David curiously. Theresa looked him in the eye and said,” I met someone, his name is Gareth and I really like him. I think I’m falling in love with him. While you had your vacation with our son, I spend my time with him. I got the chance to know him better and I’m already planning to take Kevin with me and let them bond together. You had the chance to fall in love again when you met Martha and I saw how you loved her. This is just a bump in the road for the both of you. Why don’t you settle down things with her and work everything out. Please let me have this chance to be happy David.” David smiled and said, “I guess you’re getting serious with this guy huh? For the record, I’ll take your advice and see how it goes. It’s sad that I’m already too late for us but I want you to know that I’m happy for you.”

David left and they gave each other a long and warm hug for the last time.

“How to get your Crush in 10 Days”

            I write this essay for my girls out there who don’t have any idea to get their crush to like them. So, if you’re a guy, scodoodle doo my friend because this is not for you. Just like many girls, I have numerous crush in my heart and there will come a time when you are willing to do some schemes to get this gorgeous guy to like you. Before you rushing your way into the girlfriend zone you have to do some investigations that will guarantee the success of this plan. The only thing you need to do is to find out if he’s available or not. You don’t want a girlfriend with a mob of angry friends running up towards you to rip off your face and call you a slut. That is a no no my dear, it will ruin your darling face. Next, you need a common close friend with your crush. Find out someone who can help you with your plans. If you’re so unfortunate that you don’t have a common friend, make one of his friends your friend. This will obviously take time but trust me, patience is the key to all of this.

            What are we waiting for? Let’s start. Just follow the following plan and be the best actress you can be.

            Day 1. Ask your common friend to give your number to your crush. Pretend that you know nothing about the giving of numbers. You’re an innocent little girl secretly ecstatic to receive that heavenly text from your dream guy. Tell your friend to encourage him to text you and that your, simple, a cute girl (not beautiful because most guys prefer cute girls than beautiful ones) who loves sports (if he’s an athlete); guitars (if he’s a musician) you know the drill and of course kind.

            Day 2. This is the get-to-know-each-other part. Keep your conversation interesting and talk about him, not you because most of guys would find that boring and you’ll end up receiving some lame excuses like he’s busy and have to do something or a boring and short reply which says “okey”. If that happens, you’re in trouble girl coz he’s not getting interested with you. If he asks questions about you all the time that is a good sign of curiosity that he wants to know more about you. Make sure that you remain in-character and you completely know nothing about him and talk about his hobbies and likes. If for-the-love-of-god you’re both using different sim card networks, don’t change your sim. If he doesn’t continue texting you because he ran out of load, tease him by telling him that he belongs to the wrong network and should change into your network. But remember not to be too annoying because guys hate that part of a woman’s attitude. If you’re good enough in persuading him, he’ll surely change network for you.

            Day 3. Talk about an interesting movie that is currently showing in your local cinema and make sure to pick the movie which you believe would interest him and a movie that has a romantic part on it. If however, he refuses to go because he doesn’t have any money, tell him to ask someone who would surely lend him some money. Little did he know, you have already talked to that friend to agree on lending your crush a few bucks which originally belongs to you. It’s a little silly but nobody would know except you and your friend. Your crush will have no excuse about bot going with you to watch the movie of your plans.

            Day 4. This time, your cinema moves will come in handy. Wear something sleeveless on your date to watch the movie. It’s obviously cold inside the theater and you accidentally forgot your jacket (just as you planned). Be careful not to look too obvious by rubbing your skin against his because that will give him the wrong impression that you’re some kind of an easy-to-get type of girl. Just wrap your arms around your cold sexy shoulders and never complain about getting cold. If your crush is a real gentleman, he’ll give you his jacket or look for some ways to keep you warm. Remember, refrain the urge of flirting even though your heart is screaming of happiness at the moment. After watching, thank him for being a gentleman.

            Day 5. Be a good girl and tell your mom that you will be the one shopping for your house supplies. Instead of her going to the mall and do the groceries, volunteer yourself and get the list from your mom. With that, you’re left with a bunch of things to buy from the grocery and other supplies that you need from home. The “problem” is you don’t have anyone to help you (even if a lot of your friends wanted to help you out). So send a text to your crush/friend to help you out with your “heavy” problem. Tell him that nobody would help you and your mother asked you to do it on your own. I’M sure he will be a gentle man to help you out and you’ll have fun shopping together.

            Day 6. Invite him to go to the mall again. Tell him that you want to thank him for helping you out to do the groceries and you want to treat him for some ice cream. Make sure to buy the coned ones so you can walk, eat and continue your schemes. Preoccupy him by talking about the things he’s interested with and drag him to the teddy bear corner and pretend you didn’t notice a thing. Act surprise and tell him to check out the cute teddy bears. This will give him the idea that you really love teddy bears and you would love if someone gives you one. Don’t be too obvious that you want him to give you a teddy bear. It is all in your acting skills and you should be good in it. You’re just two friends, walking around the mall. You can even ask him if he have ever given someone a teddy bear. That could lead to a good conversation.

            Day 7.  Send a fake GM or group message that you actually send only to him. Complain about a long-time-stalker who keeps on bothering you through text, calls and emails. I’m sure he would respond to this and would give you some advice. Tell him that your stalker told you that he will only stop if you’re already taken and give him a crazy idea to pretend to be your boyfriend. Tell your crush that it would be fine because you’re both good friends. Maybe he will man up and really ask you to be his girlfriend but if not, just pretend to be a damsel in distress who needs someone to rescue you in this dilemma. If he won’t agree, act cool and don’t force him.

            Day 8. The silent part. Don’t text, call, email or contact him. Give him the rest of the day to think. This will arouse his curiosity about you and think about his feelings for you. This is a critical stage since you will know if he would really give effort to contact you. If your phone is filled with his messages and missed calls in the morning, that is a great sign that he’s already into you.

            Day 9. Text him that you got sick yesterday and is still not feeling well. You’ll flip out when he tells you to get well soon. Tell your common friend to contact your crush and squeeze out some information about your relationship. Let your friend pretend that he’s curious about your crush’s status with you because he/she noticed that your both getting close together. You may not be able to get some details but just see if you really have a chance.

            Day 10. The waiting part. This may take time but you have done all of the efforts that a woman should give for a man. You must be patient in waiting for him to voluntarily ask you for a date that you never have anything to do about.

            After all of your efforts are done, most likely, you are now imprinted in your crush’s heart. You have let him do things that are not commonly done by most of men and this will be your leverage for him to do his moves in finally courting you. Guys don’t forget girls who made them do things that they haven’t experienced before. They want adventure and unexpected events that would made them think about certain things. In your case, you have puzzled his mind about his feelings for a girl whom he just met. But if he doesn’t make any effort after everything you did, let him go. No normal guy would ignore such actions and not think about getting your relationship to the next level. I suggest find another crush and make innovations about our plans in making your crush fall in love with you.

And now, a sudden scream of silence came.

 Our world outside seems no longer the same.

 Stood with nowhere to run, no help of aid,

 Amplified into thousand kiss of blade

 Why, oh why did you leave this poor white dove?

 I beg of you, spare me one minute break,

Or this I feel might drown me down the lake.

And just before I fell into the sand,

 A stranger came and tightly held my hand.

His deep brown eyes tells me—trust and remain.

 But this scared heart refuse to feel again.

He drew the dagger out from my swelling chest.

 A torture from hell but it was the best.

 How will I know I won’t hurt if I sleep?

The Vampire Diaries Review

               

The hit tv series the vampire diaries recently finished its fourth season later this year and everyone was excited to see the next season this October. The season ended with one of the main character Stefan Salvatore drowning and grasping for air inside a box dropped from the edge of a water fall. For the avid fans of the series, the ending was indeed an amazing cliff hanger that made the viewers frantic and juiced up for the season 5 premiere.

            The Vampire Diaries is all about the love triangle between the Salvatore brothers and the sweet and innocent Elena Gilbert. The brothers are both vampires who fell in love with an 18 year old girl. Elena lost her innocence when she turned into vampire at the season 3 finale and this changed her relationship with Stefan then ended up falling of the other brother.  For the first 3 seasons, Elena was dating Stefan Salvatore and by the end of season 4 she found herself allured by the charms of the other brother, Damon Salvatore. For most fans, they find it unpleasant for Elena to switch Salvatores and date both of them one at a time. This made fans and loyal viewers confused with who she will chose at the end of the show.

            The visual effects of the tv show have gratified the spectators of the renowned series. The quality of each episode is noted to be pleasing amongst the viewers. Through the years of filming and evolution of technology, the cast and crew of the vampire diaries have elevated in giving out high quality episodes especially the scenes where Elena is with her doppelganger which is acted by the same actress Nina Dobrev, viewers will definitely be convinced that the two characters are in the same room. Combining both the talents of the men behind the cameras, directors, producers and the amazing actors and actresses, the series have delivered a marvelous series that have hooked people of varied ages for almost 5 years now.

            The show have been imminently compared with the movie Twilight because of the love triangle between Edward the Vampire, Jake the werewolf and Bella the innocent teenage girl who fell in love with Edward. Unlike the movie, there is no werewolf involve around the love triangle but it is also incorporated along the show. In the movie, the leading lady have made up her mind as to who she really loves but in the series, Elena have been switching Salvatores along the season and it’s still not clear to the viewers who she will end up in the series finale. The tv series is most definitely extra detailed than the movie and is more complicated in terms of the story line.

            The vampire Diaries is a fun and entertaining tv series to watch and each episode doesn’t fail to quench the thirst of fans and lead them to demand for more about the love triangle of the characters and the difficulties that they are going through each season. I absolutely recommend this series to everyone out there who wants adventure, excitement and adrenaline rush all in one tv series.

Message in a Bottle Review

                “THE NOVEL’S UNBASHED EMOTION—AND AN UNEXPECTED TURN— WILL PUT TEARS IN YOUR EYES”—PEOPLE, this is just one of the many comments that this book have received from the people who have read the book. It’s one of the books written by the #1 New York Times Best Selling Author Nicholas Sparks. This is an amazing creation of an incredible author that is filled with emotion and beauty.

                This is the second book that was adapted into a movie just like the first book of Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook. It is about the life of two characters Theresa and Garret meeting and falling in love because of fate. Garret was throwing a message in a bottle in the waves of the ocean for her departed wife Catherine and of all the places that the letter could have ended up with, fate has given it in the hands of a divorced and a mother of a twelve-year-old son, Theresa. Upon reading the letter, Theresa felt the passion and pain of the person who wrote it and it became her driving motivation to look for the person behind the exquisite letter. Just like Sparks’ first novel, The Notebook, the storyline revolved around a small and quite town which I believe one of the writing styles of the author.

The author has delivered a beautiful composition where he used a clean and smooth way of writing. He’s choice of words and sentence construction can be easily understood by the readers and at the same time, it is packed with artistry and grace that makes everyone fall in love with the characters of the story. With he’s way of writing, Nicholas have given the audience an experience of feeling the emotions, pain and happiness of each chapter of the novel. He has also injected real-life situations and problems that made the readers relate to the lives of Theresa and Garret.

Although a lot of readers felt bad about the ending of the novel where Garret died in the ocean and left Theresa suffering in pain of losing the love of her life, in my own perspective, I like how he ended the novel. Yes, it’s true that Garret’s death is tragic and heartbreaking but it also touched that part in my heart where I felt really bad and I can almost feel my heart getting crushed because they didn’t end up together. My point is that I felt their pain and loss, I felt how distressing and agonizing the feeling of losing someone and Nicholas Sparks gave me that experience. He made me feel that a certain emotion can exist just by reading a novel.

                Personally, I love the novel despite of others who didn’t like the ending I would say that it is a beautiful and passionate story. Every single detail was magnificent and the emotions carried out by the characters are extraordinary and exceptional. I bow to Nicholas Sparks for creating a beautiful piece of art and sharing it to the world.

The Conjuring Review

                Here comes a horror movie that everyone is talking about—The Conjuring. This movie has been popular over the internet for the past few weeks. People from different social sites like facebook, twitter, tumblr and even on youtube are talking like crazy about this movie.

                The Conjuring is a rated R film directed by James Wan who is popular in directing other horror movies such as Insidious, Saw and etc. Unlike Insidious and Saw who had many sequels, James Wan finally jumped into another type of horror film that is based on real life events.  The movie is established on a real life exploits of Ed and Lorraine Warren, a married couple that investigates paranormal events. The film is focused on the Warren’s famous case where they investigated a witch’s curse on a family who lives in what seems to be a serene farm. The movie started off by introducing a possessed doll named Annabelle who torments the life of two young nurses. At first, I thought the movie is all about Annabelle scaring the souls out of people because Annabelle’s creepy face is shown all over the movie’s posters and trailers. But then, the freaky doll was only given a small part in the movie which is kind of a bummer. They then introduced the real center of the story, the Perron family, who innocently moves in a cursed house where they experienced all weird stuff like birds knocking dead in their house, picture frames falling out from their walls, and a paranormal entity (appearing every 3:07 in dawn) who’s playing “hide and clap” with them and dragging their children’s feet while sleeping. They also presented an odd looking tree with no leaves on it, it was said to be the spot where the witch who confessed her love to Satan committed suicide The Perrons were genuinely  helped by the Warrens in which they were able to defeat the demonic curse at the end. But this is after all the dispute that they encountered against the dark entity. The film have shown how hard the family fought when Mrs. Perron got possessed, their daughter got dragged across the living room and was slammed on walls and windows, the police (who only wanted to help) got bitten and knocked off by the possessed Mrs. Perron and ghosts of different entity showing up in front of their faces all of a sudden. It was a great horror movie, there are a lot of breathe taking moments where you would freeze in your seat waiting for the ghost to show up but then it doesn’t happen and while you’re all relaxed, something will show up on the screen that will make you jump off your chair and you’ll have that mini heart attack that will make guys scream like a little girl. With all of the different scary elements and the organized plot presentation, the movie has successfully caught the hearts of the viewers who loves horror films. 

                The movie has succeeded in giving people a horror film that is worth watching for movie goers who loves to get goose bumps. The effects and timing of the paranormal entity in the film were very accurate and effective. This film has given us a happy ending where the Perron family was released from the curse which we missed from Insidious and all of the sequels of Saw. I also love the idea of the clock stopping at exactly 3:07 in the morning and whenever I wake up at dawn to go to the rest room, that part of the movie always make me alert and vigilant with my surrounding which is kind of silly. This only shows that the movie has an impact on me and other people who watched this film. What I would have loved more is for them to show a little bit more of Annabelle in the film because I was interested about her part of the story where I kind of didn’t get from the film. But if I have to describe this film in one word, it would be “spine-chilling”.  So if you haven’t watched the movie, I guarantee, you will never play hide and clap ever again and you will remember this film for the rest of your human life.

The Market

The market is the placee where we get all the primary things that we need in our daily life. All the fresh fruit and vegetables are found in the market. We even pick the best ingredients that we could find to cook our favorite dishes and desserts.

I went to the market this morning and the first thing that I noticed is the different voices of the people inside the market. The whispering voices of the people buying and the vendors who persuades and negotiate with consumers to buy their product. On the left corner of the market, I can hear the woman calling customers and trying to sell her fishes to the people who walks pass her. She sells variety of fishes some are big and some are small. The lights above them hit the scales of the fishes and it glows in front of your eyes as if they were shining diamonds. As the vendor grabs her blue drum full of fish and transfers it to the table made of tiles for display, the scaly body of the fishes glimmered when they spread together for the costumers to see. The fishes have some kind of foul and salty smell but you can tell the fishes are fresh because the bodies of the fishes are firm and not lumpy. Beside the fish vendor is a woman who sells different kinds of vegetables and I hear her loud and husky voice saying,” here, fresh ampalaya, alugbatti, okra, kalabasa. Just name it and we have it.” When I turned to see her, she’s a happy vendor with a slender body wearing a red shirt. She was packing a bunch of lemons and laughing while calling out costumers and at the same time talking with her co-vendor who sells tapioca, nata, oil, soy sauce and vinegar. The woman in red sells many kinds of vegetables on her wooden table. I noticed the shiny and violet skin of the “talong” and they were in medium size with fresh green stems. The “talong” feels smooth to the touch unlike the wrinkly body of the “ampalaya”. Beside it are green leafy “pechay” and fresh green Bagiuo beans. She also sells big sized carrots and white radish and they both have brown lines on their skin and green stems but they definitely look good and fresh. She sells potatoes in medium and big size and they have traces of dark spots and dirt on its skin which is rough when touched. Basically, all of her vegetables looked like there were in their best shape for all the costumers looking for fresh and delicious products. There are also fruit vendors who sell mangoes, bananas, watermelons, pineapple and etc. But what I love the most is the sweet smell of the large yellow mango that lingered in my nose when I walked pass by a woman slicing one of her mangoes and the smell was divine. But as I walk around, a foul and rotting smell entered my nose and it almost made me want to throw up. Some vendors are piling off their rotting products in a corner and it created an awful smell. It was very disappointing to see people who neglect the policy of making the market clean for everybody.

You can find all sorts of things in the market. You can find the freshest fruits and vegetables but at the same time you can also find low quality food and sometimes rotting smell all over the place but the experience of seeing products that are not in good quality will definitely make you a better  person of choosing what is fresh and what is not. 

Descriptive Essay of my Crush

“Crush”

        I had my first crush when I was in high school. I was third year back then and my best friend April kept on taking me with her in the school pathway to wait for her crush to walk pass us. And when her crush comes, she would shriek and giggle as if she was kissed by her crush. I didn’t understand her excitement of seeing that boy until the unsuspected moment when I saw Stefan.

        Stefan is the campus crush in our small public school. I didn’t know that until the day I laid my eyes on him. As he walked in the pathway, I gazed upon the beauty of this handsome face. He walks like a runway model on a high fashion event. He’s a little bit taller than me and he has an ivory complexion. His face mimics the grace of that of an angel. His dark amber eyes were not big, not small or chinito, they were perfectly in the middle of those qualities. And his eye lashes were long and it totally complements the shape of his eyes. His nose is pointy and his lips were lusciously red.  And when he smiles, his white teeth brightens up my day like the glorious sun does to the buds of roses.

        The thing that caught me attracted to him was his eyes and his smile. I couldn’t describe how beautiful and extraordinary the feeling of him staring at me. It’s so magical that you were like caught in a loop were no one is around but the both of you. And when the enchanted moment of him smiling at you comes, it feels like the angels in heaven were singing and you were in your own paradise and nothing matters but that single moment where you look into each other’s eyes and it just makes you happy from the inside out.

        Stefan was a real gentleman. When my best friend was finally courted by her crush I found out that her crush and Stefan were cousins and at that moments, we were finally introduced to each other. It was raining that day and we were in the pathway. It felt like it was not raining at all, rather, snows are gently falling from the sky above us. When we were about to go home, he kindly asked me if he could walk with me. My heart pumped and I could not believe that he wants to walk me home. I could not catch my breath at that moment but I smoothly said yes. He hurriedly went to get his bag and borrowed an umbrella to I-don’t-know-who but he did it to prevent me from getting wet. While walking, I was looking at him and it was as if I was trapped in his beauty and suddenly, he grabbed my waist and drew me closer to him. I was so scared and I was trembling in excitement and at the same time confused about why he acted that way. For a moment, I thought that he was going to kiss me or something. But he brightly smiled at me and said,” you were about to step on a puddle of mud”. I blushed in shame because I was so distracted and I looked silly in front of him. When we arrived at the market were I’m supposed to take a ride back home, he voluntarily called a ride for me and I went home with the memory of his face looking and smiling at me.

        Eventually, he courted me and of course I gave him my sweetest yes. We were doing fine for the first few weeks but then, the end of the rainbow came and there was no pot of gold and unicorns but only fake coins and fake attitudes. He became so arrogant and prejudice. He talks about unfortunate people and laughs at their misfortune.   Slowly, I painfully fell from the paradise that I thought I had. The last straw of my patience broke when he demanded a kiss from me. I hesitated to give him that opportunity and I broke up with him. I realized that the most handsome face doesn’t always have the most handsome heart. But I thank him, for he has contributed to my maturity and my personality. It may not be in the most positive way but it surely ended well for me.

Fictional Narrative Essay

Charlie

There are a lot of things that people don’t know about me. Some people think that I’m just a guy who lives next door and goes out at night for an overnight job at a hotel 2 blocks from our subdivision. Other people think that I’m weird and should not be trusted. I know none of our neighbors and they think I stay home all day to wait for the sun to disappear. I also heard people whispering and talking about me. They said that I’m not human and one day, I’ll show my true form and might cause the end of the world. Well, I have to say a few of those rumors are true.

                I moved here in the quiet town of Rosewood a few months ago.  I bought an old house good for six people but I live all alone. My neighbors have no idea why I moved in town or where I came from. All they know is that I live in an old creepy house and everything fell off with rumors and speculations. They did try to communicate and make friends with me but I turn them down every time. I don’t want to get too much attached to any of them. But to tell you the truth, I myself have no clue why I’m staying here either. I just want to escape from who I am and start a quiet life in a small town where no one talks to me. I don’t want anyone to be part of my life.

Ever since I moved in, a woman welcomed me in the neighborhood and sends me pie from time to time. I heard that her name is Spencer but I don’t understand her dedication of sending me all those blueberry pies three times a week. Every time the doorbell rings and when I open my door, surprise! A fresh blueberry flavored pie is on my doorsteps. One day I saw her hiding behind a parked car across the street and I threw her delicious pie in my trashcan outside. Of course I did it on purpose. I don’t know if I hurt her feelings but all I want is for her to stop. I want her to become just like other people. People like the ones who freak out every time they see me walking outside their yards. I want her to be like the paranoid teenage girl who pretends to laugh and talk on her phone while walking pass through me even though nobody is on the other line. I want her to be afraid of me.

Later this afternoon, I was about to take a shower when my doorbell rang. From then, I knew a blueberry pie is waiting to be thrown in my good-old-trashcan. I wrapped a towel around my waist and opened the door. To my surprise, a woman in a white dress appeared before me. She looked astonishing with her long black hair and rosy cheeks.  I looked dumb for five seconds staring right at her. She just smiled and said, “hi Charlie, I’m Spencer, I saw you threw my blueberry pie last week so I figured you don’t like pies or maybe your allergic to blueberries or something.” I never met her up close and I would be stupid to deny that she is truly gorgeous. I’ve never spoken a word to her, then she continued,” so, I made you this meatball spaghetti, I don’t know if you like meatballs but I just want to drop in and maybe we could talk over dinner and ….” She didn’t get to finish what she had to say as I slammed the door in her face. It was rude but I just can’t let her in my life. She was a nice girl and I do want to have her over dinner and just talk about anything but I have a dark secret. A horrible dark secret.

November 11 last year, my wife came home from work. She looked so happy as she walked towards me and gave me her sweet kiss. She was the most beautiful woman in my life. As I drew her towards me, I drag a knife through her heart. Her smile faded and I watched the life of my wife slowly vanished in front of me. Blood were everywhere and not a single drop of tear came out from me. I killed her. It was later that morning that I found out that she has been cheating on me for months. I followed her car like an insecure husband who wanted the truth so bad. She didn’t go to work. She went directly to a big house and when she came out from her car a man was waiting for her. He quickly grabbed her waist as if she’s his own. I saw the woman I married kissing another man and she was happy doing it behind my back. Darkness filled my head and all I wanted is to get revenge. So I ended their relationship and killed the only woman I loved. I told the police that Katie’s murderer was her gigolo. I don’t know what happened but the cops believed me and arrested the man for murder.

I remembered my mom, my beautiful and caring mother, she told me to not to marry Kate. But I was stupid enough to leave my family and ran away with the woman who I believed to be the person who can never hurt me. I gave her my everything and left my family for her. But all of it was not enough. I wanted to get to know Spencer and have her over coffee or dinner but the pain of what happened to me is still fresh. Every day I wanted to end my life and just die from the world. I’m still healing and lost. I pray that someday I could move on and live my life and pretend like nothing happened. Maybe someday, I will be able to let people come in my life and just forget the nightmare. And maybe you will know me as a different Charlie and I will be able to trust a woman and fell in love once again.

Me as a Wounded Creature

hbjhjgjhvjWriting is a big part of my life considering that I am an education student. But my chosen course is not the reason why I truly write. I discovered my love for writing when a boy broke my heart for the very first time. I was a fourth year high school student back then and I was still in the edge of discovering what life could offer me. The moment I felt the pain of loving someone and not having to be loved back was a strange feeling for someone my age. But my experience of being hurt was very peculiar. Normally, when a person is hurt, he expresses this through crying but not a single drop of tear came out from my eyes. I was sitting under an acacia tree pretending to read my notes and holding a pen in my right hand. I then decided to write what I feel through a poem. I made a lot of poems in the past but this one is different. Each words and lines rooted from the very soul of my emotions. From that moment, writing has become a passion of mine. I am not an omniscient individual who has knowledge of everything but I write through my own life experiences. Writing is my way of releasing all the burning emotions that I feel and I put them on a single piece of paper. It represents me as an individual who is capable of expressing what I feel through a literary piece of art.

“Mindanao’s Underground Economy Reflection”

            Many articles talk about the underground economy of Mindanao. When we say underground economy or informal economy, this is the illegal trading that is present in the economy. These are the goods and services that are sold without permission and are hidden from the government.

            In an article that i read, it was mentions that the underground economy in Mindanao has created feud and conflict in terms of peace in the society. Illegal trading such as selling of guns and illegal drugs has become rampant in Mindanao. The sad fact about this is that the government hasn’t created a proper solution and action in this problem. These traders initially don’t contribute to the economy since they don’t pay taxes and thus contributes mostly to the spreading crime and poverty in our country. I believe that the government should take proper actions for this problem is rotting our country from inside out. Mindanao has been given negative labels all over the country and has been one of the reasons why we are feared by tourist. As a student, I can help our economy by promoting to my relatives and friends to avoid purchasing from traders that are not monitored and approved by the government. This simple act can definitely make a difference in the economy.

            Mindanao has not flourished through the years and the informal economy has contributed a lot to this. I believe that the government must take action to this obvious problem in our society but I also believe that the government couldn’t do this without the help of the citizens itself. The government and its people should work hand in hand to this problem for a better and fruitful economy.
